Dig 16 post holes, each 3 feet deep in hard packed and dry adobe clay soil by hand? No thank you! We were able to get Chase, from Chasin Goat Grazing to come by with his tractor to clear out the area for the barn pad. It’s a pretty level spot and high enough ground so we decided to have him just scrape off the vines as well as the mulched blackberries from the clearing he had done previously. His auger attachment made quick easy work of digging the holes. We marked out the target spots and let him go at it.
Next step? Setting the poles in concrete and working to get them level and plumb!
The project is really coming together! Although we are taking more time than we originally projected when we said we would have a full video out in a week (aren’t we optimisists!?!) we will have a full barn build video coming your way soon! Thanks for watching! For more videos about what goes on in our backyard mini farm please subscribe.
